A little blog inspiration

I keep up with quite a few blogs, some of people that I don't even know but they are funny or I find them inspiring or they do cute crafts and I look up to them! :) Anyways! There is one that I LOVE, her name is Becky (I feel like we're really good friends but she doesn't know me!) so I was reading her blog a while back and she was talking about how she was trying to get back into shape and she rides her bike with her kids riding in the back. Here is what she said about this particular situation:

Back to this morning. I start up the hill, knowing that I wouldn't make it up the hill. I was okay with that. Again. I had already decided it was okay and I would do the best I could do. But then something inside of me just snapped. Why was I settling for that? Why couldn't I make it to the top?
I'll tell you why: Because I had already decided that I wasn't going to make it.
So that "snap" I'm referring to? It suddenly dawned on me to visualize the result. I needed to visualize biking to the top of this hill, completely and totally focused on nothing other than getting to the top. And so I did. It was so. very. hard. But I kept that image of me biking all the way to the top in my mind. And I required Claire to keep up with her chants. And ... AND ...
I made it. I made it!

So how does this apply to me?!
I've started running regularly this week. I have been on and off for a couple weeks but I decided that this week I needed to buckle down and get serious. SO...yesterday I decided I wanted to be up to 2 miles straight by today and as I was running today I thought I was going to die during laps 9 & 10 (5 laps = 1 mile) but I thought back to this blog post and I visualized myself finishing and I did it! It was a big accomplishment in my life. It might no be big to you but it was HUGE for me!

  2. Way to go! I officially fail as a running buddy because I can never go with you, but regardless you rock. I am very impressed.
